Fine Wine

Stevens Garnier fine wine - what's it all about?

As nebulous concepts go ‘Fine Wine’ is arguably up there with the ‘Big Society’ or the West’s concept of ‘Freedom’.  What constitutes ‘Fine Wine’? And what separates it from simply ‘Wine’? Well here at Stevens Garnier we have some pretty firm ideas:

  • Price
  • Region of Origin
  • Tradition

Yes they all play a big part. The finer things in life tend to cost more it’s true. Outposts of Fine Wine spring up in the most unlikely places sometimes, but it’s still the case that the historically recognised regions, particularly in France, provide us with much of the filling in this vinous sandwich.

  • Rarity
  • Quality
  • Provenance

We only buy from impeccable sources and can trace the history of every case, every bottle with precision. These wines, in quality terms, are amongst the best of their kind on the planet and as such, each case is a precious and scarce treasure.

  • Magic

Yes Magic, the unexplainable alchemy of winemaker and terroir that elevates the merely excellent to another plane and makes these wines something that, well, we’d almost kill, to have on the list.

For us these are the “seven virtues” of Fine Wine that you will find in every wine on the new and evolving Stevens Garnier Fine Wine List.

We deploy a flat and highly competitive pricing structure across the trade. All wines are offered in bond (Octavian) and subject to duty, delivery and VAT on release.
