France » Bordeaux » Haut-Médoc

A sizeable region in the high, southern part of the Médoc that includes famous appellations like Pauillac and Margaux. If you see Haut Médoc on a label without the accompanying words Grand Cru Classé or Cru Bourgeois, what you have in front of you is a wine from a commune or communes that lacks a specific appellation. Confused? Not surprised! Don't worry too much though; the terroir is fantastic, wine making techniques and yields similar to those made in the regions appellations, and the fact that these wines tend not to be given the new oak treatment makes them accessible and affordable.
