Vouvray is one of Touraine's most famous appellations and it is here that Chenin Blanc, which is almost universally planted here, finds it's spiritual home. You'll find it in all shapes and sizes too - sparkling, demi-sec, dry, barrel fermented and of course, because of its susceptibility to noble rot, sweet or Moelleux as they call it in these parts. The best wines have the structure and crucially, acidity, to age almost indefinitely. For those lucky enough to know the wines, they represent some of the most hedonistic wine experiences it's possible to get in this solar system.
