It's strange how things pan out. Blaye has been exporting wine for much longer than many a more famous Bordeaux appellation, Margaux for one which lies directly opposite on the other side of the Gironde. It's a quality conscious area and the wines largely red, merlot dominated with cabernet sauvignon and malbec in support, and represent some of the best value Bordeaux has to offer.
