Tasting notes

Classic Riesling: ripe apples, peaches and white flowers with zippy acidity and great intensity for the price. A good introduction to the style, and best sampled with creamy pork dishes.

Production method

Traditional vinification: alcoholic fermentation under temperature control, no malolactic fermentation. Longlasting vinification on lees.

The Sparr winery was founded in 1680 at Sigolsheim, in the heart of Alsace. Today, with 34 hectares of their own vineyards, including 3 Grand Crus, the 9th generation of Sparrs continues to pursue quality and consistency. The 'Excellence' range from René Sparr is an expression of fuller fruit and weight, and Sparr's proclaimed goal is "to preserve intricate layers of flavours, and highlight the grapes' identity and intensely pure varietal character".
