Deep ruby red with violet hues and aromas of fresh red fruits - plums and cherries - and a hint of oak. On the palate are typical varietal flavours of red fruits and vanilla with some floral nuances and ripe tannins. The finish is long, elegant and soft.
Production method
Fermentation in stainless steel at 24/28C, with a maceration period of 6 days. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally. Maturation for 3 months in oak barrels and 3 months in stainless steel.
Producer notes
Winemaker Luis Cabral de Almeida asserts that Flichman is all about "Attitude with Altitude", which is why the winery is enjoying such success today. Following significant investment from Portuguese owners, Sogrape, massive vineyard expansion has allowed Flichman to experiment, innovate and excite. Unique to Flichman is the specific location of the Barrancas estate at 700 metres above sea level. Vineyards are planted on the old Mendoza river-bed, where the stony soils are ideally suited for Syrah. Flichman has also planted vineyards in Tupungato, at 1100m, where the distinctive climatic conditions lend additional acidity and complexity to the wines.
