Rich red fruits on the nose with notes of Pinot 'gaminess' and spice. Beautifully structured on the palate, round with well-integrated tannins, finishing with leather and spice. A serious, complex wine, that will take bottle age.
Careful selection of grapes followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation in 1 year old oak casks, followed by a further year's maturation in barrel. No fining or filtration before bottling.
The Vacherons believe that good wine is made in the vineyards. Vacheron vineyards are planted on three different soils - flint, chalk and pebbles (cailloux) - accounting for the pre-eminence of their Sauvignon. Since the wines are vinified and stored separately, the balance of the final cuvée can be adjusted to achieve the best style before bottling. The Vacherons maintain that tradition need not be a handicap, nor should it halt progress, but that it remains a constant point of reference. The main objective for this extraordinarily dedicated and forward-looking Family Business is, as always, the very highest quality.
