The superb Renaissance Château Moncontour, surrounded by the largest single vineyard in Vouvray, looms over the Loire at Rochecorbon. This "brut" (dry) méthode traditionnelle sparkling wine is made exclusively from Chenin Blanc and is light, fragrant and delicious.

Production method

Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by blending and bottling before wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle, resting 'sur latte' in underground cellars for a further 24 months before disgorgement.

Producer notes

If you are visiting the Loire, Chateau Moncontour is a must to add to your itinerary. The winery is built into the side of the hill directly below the Chateau and uses gravity to convey the juice from the presses to the fermentation vats. The still wines produced from Chenin Blanc make a delicate, easy-to-drink aperitif and the méthode traditionnelle is elegant and aromatic.
