Tasting notes
Pale green-yellow. Inviting aromas of juicy peach, apricot, lychee and smoky flint. Concentrated and juicy on the palate, with apricot and peach flavours complemented by an exotic touch of cinnamon. An elegant and agile play of acidity lends harmony and lift to this full-bodied, opulent Riesling.
Production method
After crushing juice remains in contact with skins for 28 hours; spontaneous fermentation max. 25C; fermented and matured in stainless steel with lees contact until May.
Producer notes
Established in the 15th Century by the Benedictine monks of Tegernsee Abbey. Now owned and run by the 5th generation of the Mittelbach family, the estate comprises 25 hectares in total, with 19 ha in the Wachau (Austria's Côte d'Or), including holdings in all seven 'Grand Cru' vineyard sites. The remaining 6 ha are in Kremstal Austria's Mâconnais. Winemaker Martin Mittelbach's philosophy is "the highest level of excellence must be the minimum we should expect from these wines."
