Tasting notes
A pale straw colour, dry White Porto, has a tropical fruit aroma and light fresh flavour, crisp characteristics combined with a hint of natural sweetness. A good match to nuts and almonds as an aperitif - or with a fresh dessert like vanilla ice-cream with tropical fruits.
Production method
Vinified in the traditional manner before fortification with neutral grape spirit. Aged in large oak vats with many years of use.
Producer notes
The iconic Sandeman Don, created in 1928, is one of the first trademark images ever created. The Don has received a facelift in recent years, and the full range of Sandeman Ports has been updated and stylishly re-packaged. Sandeman recently opened its new production and visitor centre in Quinta do Seixo, in the Upper Douro. This houses the latest technology and production processes, including robotic lagares that closely replicate the traditional method of treading Port grapes by foot. The range includes Apitiv White Port, and the stylish Vau Vintage Port - released ready for immediate consumption.
