Tasting notes

Brilliant light gold wine with green reflections. On the nose, aromas of peach, lychee, pineapple and notes of citrus. The palate is fresh and delicious, with a long, exotic finish. Drink with goats cheese or carpaccio of tuna in peppered oil.

Production method

Direct pressing in pneumatic press. Temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, with some months ageing in bat prior to bottling.

Producer notes

Bastide St Dominique, established in 1976, is situated near Courthézon to the east of the appellation of Châteauneuf du Pape. The Bastide of the name refers to a the rather grand and venerable fortified farmhouse where the impressive winery, barrel rooms, bottling line and tasting room are housed. The estate itself owns 10.5 hectares of vineyards in Châteauneuf du Pape (1.8 planted to white varieties) spanning seven Lieux-Dits in which the vines are at worst mature and at best ancient. In addition to this, the estate also purchases fruit from specific plots and specific growers, whether Côtes du Rhone or VDP, where they really love the quality and the terroir. All of this gives Eric Bonnet, one of the Rhône Valley's most talented young wine makers, plenty to work with and the results are deeply impressive. From VDP up to the CDNP at the top level, the wines are rich, with stunning purity of fruit, beautiful detail and real freshness.
