Tasting notes

Deep, dark purple in colour with intense violet lights, indicating exceptional maturity. The nose evokes cassis, green pepper with notes of the garrigue. On the palate, the velvety tannins add another dimension. Well-structured, with elegant, fine-grained tannins, the wine finishes on a distinguished fruity note. Drink with roasted meats and game.

Production method

Grapes are picked at optimum maturity and fully de-stalked. Temperature-controlled fermentaion takes place in vat for a period of 3 weeks with twice-weekly pigeage. Wine is matured in oak barrels prior to blending and bottling.

Producer notes

The estate was purchased by Stéphane Vedeau in 2008, and combines 44ha of mature vines, planted with typical Southern Rhône varieties. It is spectacularly set on a 410m high plateau opposite Mont Ventoux to the south east of the town of Valréas, an hour or so north of Avignon. The winery, cut into the hillside, is state-of-the-art and gravity fed, providing the perfect environment for fine wine production, but it's the combination of Northern Rhône altitude and Southern Rhône grape varieties that makes this place unique.
