Tasting notes
A golden wine with green reflections, this wine reveals a lovely palette of aromas: honey, beeswax, vanilla. The palate is generous and rich in flavour and beautifully constructed and smooth with orange notes. The richness and length on the finish promise excellent ageing potential. Drink as an aperitif with petits fours, or with fish such as dorado with wild fennel.
Production method
Vintage takes place late in the season in order to obtain maximum ripeness and high sugar levels. Vinification takes place in new oak barrels over a period of one month, with bâtonnage, followed by maturation in barrel on the lies for a further 5 months.
Producer notes
The estate was purchased by Stéphane Vedeau in 2008, and combines 44ha of mature vines, planted with typical Southern Rhône varieties. It is spectacularly set on a 410m high plateau opposite Mont Ventoux to the south east of the town of Valréas, an hour or so north of Avignon. The winery, cut into the hillside, is state-of-the-art and gravity fed, providing the perfect environment for fine wine production, but it's the combination of Northern Rhône altitude and Southern Rhône grape varieties that makes this place unique.
