Tasting notes

This deep ruby-purple tinged Gigondas exhibits sweet aromas of blue and black fruits, liquorice, powdered rock and spring flowers. Pure, deep and full-bodied with good acidity and ripe tannins, it should drink well for 10-12 years.

Production method

Grapes are hand-sorted and de-stemmed. Temperature-controlled fermentation and minimal use of oak to preserve the pure and aromatic components of the fruit.

Producer notes

The winery was established in 1806, and is now owned and run by father and daughter team of Bernard and Céline Chauvet. The estate comprises just over 20ha with 15ha in Gigondas and 2ha in Vacqueyras. Old vine fruit and minimal use of oak produces rich, full-bodied yet elegant wines, with good balance, a long finish and excellent ageing potential.
