The luscious sweet wine of Monbazillac is second only to the best sweet wine of Bordeaux. Delicious dessert wine with apricot and honey aromas & flavours and beautifully balanced acidity.
Grapes are hand harvested by successive picking of botrytis affected grapes. The wine is fermented in oak, and matured in barriques for 14-16 months prior to bottling.
The Chateau consists of 36 ha and belongs to the 6th generation Alard family. Best known for their botrytis Monbazillacs, which are barrel fermented from 80% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Muscadelle, the Alards also produce fine Bergerac red wines from Cabernets Sauvignon & Franc, and dry white from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.
